Question 5 - knowledge and less favourable treatment

Institutions cannot rely upon not knowing whether someone is disabled when discriminating unless they could not reasonably have known about the disability. This involves taking reasonable steps to find out about disability. This means that it is important that students are presented with genuine opportunities to disclose in a suitably private environment. This requirement is best fulfilled by ... :

A) relying on students to come forward to discuss the issues since this can be a very sensitive area;
B) asking students to raise their hands if they have a disability;
C) asking students to approach a special stall set up for this purpose at induction;
D) including appropriate tick boxes and contact telephone numbers/email addresses in all relevant paperwork that students are required to complete (e.g. relating to applying for course modules, accommodation, field trips).
